Nice to meet you

A short version of a longer story - where I am, where I came from, and what I am still curious about.

About

Sandeep Danda
Seattle, WA

I write backends. The part I like is the shape of the thing - idempotent writes, replay queues, alarms that fire for the right reason. Less glamorous than it sounds, more interesting than it looks.

I grew up in Thorrur, a small town in Telangana, and then in Hyderabad. My first real job was at Nucleus Software in Delhi writing Java for a bank's loan processing module, which is also where I had my first real production outage. Then Deloitte, doing Salesforce admin and Apex work. After that I came to the US for my masters at the University at Buffalo, and eventually ended up in Seattle.

If I had to pick the career again I would still pick engineering - this time for the curiosity, not the path.

Lately I have been pulled into AI tooling - agents, MCPs, skills, configs, and the slightly obsessive fun of making a team's tools do more than they were designed for.

Outside work: cooking, badminton, cricket, and since I moved to Seattle, hiking. My favorite movies are Shawshank Redemption and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi - one for patience, the other for the quiet kind of love. I like kindness, people who are a little different, and the missing pieces in a thing more than the finished ones.
